This has been my favorite season for a plethora of
reasons. Season 3 was a passion read to make sure the FMC gets the happy ending she deserves.
Let's paint a picture. In Marvel's Avengers Endgame; the final battle. All the men were beaten and bruised. The heroines stepped up to lead. Jahquel depicts this image perfectly as she puts the female characters in a position of heroism. Girl Power!
This season revolves around the dynamic duo of Quameer and Capri. They have the 90's black love type of relationship. Not only do they have a positive relationship that makes them so adorable, but they're also the most realistic couple. In most of the romance books I have read. The majority of the relationships are couples within a week or a month tops.
Jahquel J's book doesn't follow the mainstream plots, which I love. The plot that I read the most is usually set up as the couple gets together then they have an issue that leads to a breakup then they make up. There's nothing wrong with this plot but when you read it so many times it's expected. Jahquel is a refreshing difference from other authors.
I love Jahquel's Character development for the males. Number one: they represent healthy masculinity. Men who can lead while putting their woman's needs above all. (At least for the main male characters). “It was different having a man handle everything for you. I didn’t have to do anything because he had already handled everything for me.” (Capri). Nothing more attractive than a man who knows how to treat the type of lady that he's courting. “As someone who always had their brain on twenty-four seven, it was a special feeling when you got around your person and your mind was quieted, and you didn’t have to think because you knew they would handle everything.”(Capri) The love she didn't know she deserved.
Number two: They're present active dads! Men being fathers sometimes can be a sight for some eyes. It's refreshing to read. Jahquel's portrayal of men in this series is my absolute favorite.
I have read this season multiple times and it's still amazing. See you back after season 4.
It's been a breeze!
