Let's jump into the Delgato Universe. Capone Delgato is a man of quality traits. From the book description the man is fine, he knows how to treat a lady and he's about that bag. Where is this man in my reality? He really is a smooth cat. If you know, you know and if you don't you better get to know.
Jahquel J set the highest possible level for literature that you will compare every book you read after to this series. The question you will need to ask yourself is, were you reading a book or watching a soap opera? Jahquel paints a picture so vividly which leads me to believe that I was at that block party, I was sitting on the couch with Capone in that Brownstone, I was chilling with the homies at the sandwich shop. You couldn’t tell me I wasn’t there,
Season 1 starts with Capone and his love interest; Erin. Capone's season consists of 3 books. The main focus of this season is the development of Capone and Erin’s relationship.
The love story between Capone and Erin is written, beautifully. They have Aunt Viv and Uncle Phil type love. I love an Independent woman and I especially root for them to find love. Erin is the definition of an Independent woman. One thing I love more than an independent woman is a man who knows how to treat them right. Those men always know how to handle the situation, to fix the situation, how to be on top of the situation but have never found themselves being the situation. Capone is that man. "That was what I wanted to be for her. The one person that she could lean on when the world was tough." (Capone) Everybody needs a Capone in their life.
There is so much uniqueness in this series. Jahquel avoided all the cliques. With that synopsis this book could have easily been about adulterers, and dope boys on the corner. Jahquel didn't fall into the repetitive misconception surrounding black books. In 2024, we don't want any more books about boys in the hood. I want to read about men in the suburbs, men in penthouse, men being bosses. "I was smart. I played big and because of it my family was eating." (Capone) The Delgatoes are motivated and have aspirations. They’re visionaries. What more can you ask for?
Remember, Capone is only season 1. There's still season 2 and 3 that I haven't even talked about yet. Jahquel was releasing bangers back to back so my advice to you; Go to kindle unlimited and get to reading. Then come back for season 2.
It’s been a Breeze!
